Globalisation, technology, and free-market economics — all have contributed to the inexorable rise of multi-national corporations and a dizzying increase in the size and scale of many organisations. Logistics and technology are now intertwined with many aspects of our daily lives. While these changes have, in the main, led to large and welcome increases in prosperity and health, they have also led to a world where resources, ideas, and people frenetically-crisscross the globe to satisfy basic needs as well as more frivolous consumer demands and desires.
