Following my first short residency to the Rufford Ceramic Centre in 2003 I published an article in Ceramics Technical 19, 2004, which I think sums up the strengths of the centre: 'By adopting a focus on ceramics in its community and public activities, conducting regular quality exhibitions of the works of both groups and individual potters, running the annual Earth and Fire exhibition and conducting a comprehensive residency programme, Rufford has clearly become an international centre for ceramics.
