The compounds (H_3N(CH_2)_2NH_3)_(0.5)[SnF(C_2O_4)] centre dot H_2O (I) and (H_3N(CH_2)_2NH_3)[Sn_2(C_2O_4)_3] centre dot 0.5H_2O (II) were synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallography for the first time. Crystals of I are triclinic: space group P1-bar, alpha = 6.045(1) A, b = 7.704(2) A, c = 8.025(2) A, alpha = 100.90(3)deg, beta = 94.01(3)deg, gamma = 103.78(3)deg, V = 353,8(1) A~3, rho_(calc) = 2.579 g/cm~3, Z = 2; crystals of II are monoclinic: space group P2/c, alpha = 10.161(2) A, b = 6.141(1) A, c = 14.165(3) A, beta = 110.11(3)deg, V= 830.0(3) A~3, rho_(calc) = 2.291 g/cm~3, Z = 2. In I, inorganic anions are polymeric chains [SnF(C_2O_4)]_n~(n-) linked by weak Sn…O contacts (3.075 and 3.180 A) to produce layers. Structure II contains binuclear moieties [Sn_2(C_2O_4)_3]~(2-) linked by weaker Sn-O contacts (2.609(7) A) in infinite chains [Sn_2(C_2O_4)_3] _n~(2n-). These chains interact with one another at an Sn…O O distance of 3.273(6) A to form layers. In I and II, ethylenediammonium cations are located in the cavities between the anionic layers and hold them together by a system of hydrogen bonds N-H…O O(F).
