Synthesis and Study of Lanthanide Compounds Containing N, N'-Tetraethyl-N''-trichloroacetylphosphoramide and 2,2'-Dipyridyl: The Structure of 2,2'-Dipyridyltris(N, N'-tetraethyl-N''-trichloroacetylphosphoramido) europium (III)

The lanthanide complexes LnL_3. Dipy, where Ln=La-Nd, Sm-Yb, and Y, HL=CCl_3C(O)NHP(O)[Net_2]_2 (N,N'-tetraethyl-N''-trichloroacetylphosphoramide), and Dipy is 2,2'-dipyridyl, were synthesized. The compounds were studied by IR and electronic spectroscopy. Assignment of characteristic bands in the IR spectra of the compounds is discussed. The crystal structure of EuL_3.Dipy was solved. The crystals are triclinic: a=13.150(3) A, b=20.111(4)A, c=23.897(5)A, #alpha#=92.64(3), #beta#=91.37(3), #gamma#=93.56(2). Space group P1-bar, Z=4, p_(calc)=1.437 g/cm~3. The refinement converged to R=0.064. The complex has a molecular structure; the bidentate phosphoryl ligands are coordinated through the oxygen atoms of carbonyl and phosphoryl groups. The coordination polyhedra of Eu in both independent molecules are distorted dodecahedra, 6 O (L~(-)+2N(Dipy); the mmm +m isomer is realized in both molecules.
