Complexation of Europium(III) with 2,2'-Dipyridyl in Eu(An)_3-2,2'-Dipyridyl Ethyl Acetate Systems

Complexation of europium(III) with 2,2'-dipyridyl in Eu(An)_3-2,2'-dipyridyI-ethyl acetate systems, where An is acetylacetonate, trichloroacetate, or trifluoroacetate ions, was studied by spectrophoto-metric methods. The stability constants of the complexes at different temperatures were determined, and Gibbs energy, enthalpy, and entropy changes in complexation were calculated. The influence of the initial organic ligands on complexation was elucidated.
