Recently we developed a method for enanitoselec-tive reduction of ketophosphonates [1,2].The same methodology could be applied to the synthesis of phosphocamitine,an analog of natural L-carnitine that plays an important role in the beta-oxidation of fatty acids.Earlier chiral phosphorus analogs of L-carnitine were synthesized by the chemoenzymatic procedure and on a milligram scale only [3,4].
