Anormally quiet, country road in Boone County was bustling with activity recently as volunteers, electric cooperative crews, arborists and others worked to give a central-Missouri landmark some much-needed care and attention.The overall condition of the more than 3 50-year-old McBaine Bur Oak, simply known as "The Big Tree" to locals, has been in decline lately, and sixth-generation property owner John Sam Williamson, Jr. says the work was needed."The drought last year was hard on it," says the Boone Electric Cooperative member.
