This paper dealt with sorption equilibrium and kinetics of phosphate and thiocyanate anions in synthetic wastewaters on Mg3Al-HT anionic clay.The sorption of phosphate was well-developed,the results pointed up parameters that characterised the process (maximum sorption capacity and slope of linear part of Langmuir isotherm),while thiocyanate sorption occurred weakly,the affinity of the studied adsorbent was lower for this anion.The kinetic study showed that the process might be well described (correlations coefficients of 0.9970 and 0.9961 for phosphate and thiocyanate,respectively) by a first order kinetics in the two anions.
