摘要

In the boring of precision holes with the single-side boring tool (SSBT), critical situations may arise that are basically associated with the damages of the SSBT, the jig bushing (JB) (if it is used), or the workpiece. To improve the technological reliability of the boring process on the machine tools that are equipped with the computer numerical control (CNC) system of the PCNC (Personal Computer Numerical Control) type, steps are taken to protect the SSBT, the JB, and the workpiece against overloads and damages, and provisions are also made to analyze the causes of the onset of the negative situations with the objective of their elimination. The protection may be operative (based on the information on the current machining situation) or predictive (based on the prediction of the possible development of a negative situation in the course of the boring process).
