ANRPC Conference stresses on industry's sustainability

The 4th Annual Conference of the 11-member Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries (ANRPC) held in Haikou in China's Hainan province on November 2, 2011, was significant in many ways. It expressed concerns over the widening supply-demand gap and the volatile price situation that is exerting pressure on the plantation as well as manufacturing sector. The conference decided to take proactive initiatives to strike a healthy balance in the supply, demand and prices of natural rubber (NR) so as to ensure sustainability within the industry. The focus of the discussions was on managing uncertainty in the NR sector and enhancing supply. The conference also discussed the ways of finding a workable solution to address all the issues while ensuring profitability to stakeholders.
