B.C. SEKHAR—Malaysia's Man for All Seasons

Tan Sri Dr B.C. Sekhar (BC) held positions in the Malaysian natural rubber and palm oil industry sectors starting as an Assistant Chemist in 1949, rising to Controller and Chairman of the Malaysian Rubber Research and Development Board (1974-1984), Chairman of the Board of the Palm Oil Research Institute of Malaysia (1978-1987) and the head of the International Rubber Study Group, London, (1988-2003). During his long career he published more than 150 papers in scientific and technical journals of international repute, registered 26 patents and became internationally accepted as a leading authority in the cultivation and processing of the two tree crops.
