The 9th Annual Meeting and Exhibits of the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories 'Global Biobanking Collaborations: Challenges and Opportunities'

THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIEIY TOR Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER) held its 9th Annual Meeting in Bethesda, MD. ISBER serves as an international forum for the discussion of a wide variety of timely issues related to biobanking, including quality assurance and control, informatics and automation technologies, biospecimen research, cell culture and preservation, and legal, ethical, and policy issues. The society serves a broad range of biobank types including human, animal, environmental, museum, and seed collections, ISBER promotes excellence in biobanking internationally through annual meetings, workshops, ListServe discussions, and collaborative activities among its members, as well as the development of recommended best practices. The second edition of Best Practices for Repositories: Collection, Storage, and Retrieval of Human Biological Materials for Research was published in the March 2008 issue of Cell Preservation Technology.
