RECYCLING: 16% INCREASE IN THE VALUE OF JAPANESE NON- FERROUS METALS RECYCLING

The total value of non-ferrous metals recycling in Japan rose by 16% to Yen 433.800M in 2014 (Table 1), according to the Japan Catalyst Recovery Association (JSCRA). Growth was due both to higher prices following the 8% devaluation of the yen in 2014 and to a 64% increase in the volume of non-ferrous metals recycled (to 32,000t). The main area of growth lay in lead recycling.
