SOLAR POWER: JAPANESE SOLAR MODULE SHIPMENTS DROP FROM THE PEAK LEVEL SEEN IN 2014

The Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association (JPEA) reports that Japanese domestic shipments and production of solar modules have fallen from peak levels seen in 2014, due to the reduction in FIT levels. Domestic shipments fell by 15% to 7,864MW in 2015 and by a further 27% to 1,982MW in the first quarter of 2016 (Table 2). Domestic production fell by 19% to 3,103MW in 2015, although output rose slightly year-on-year (+2%) to 1,026MW in January to March 2016 (Table 3).
