After scores of spy photos and speculation, Porsche has finally taken the wraps off its much anticipated 4-door GT, the Panamera. The shape is consistent with what has been seen previously, although Porsche had gone to great lengths to disguise the rear hatch area, which is perhaps the most controversial aspect (beyond the sedan configuration) of the car's design. While the face and flanks are smooth, rounded and consistent with recent Porsche styling on all vehicles from the Boxster through the Cayenne, the rear of the car tries hard to disguise its almost Kamm-back sail panels. Rather than having a steeply sloping roof line, the Panamera tapers slightly to the leading edge of the rear hatch to maximize rear seat head room [Porsche chairman Wendelin Weideking insisted that he should be able to comfortably sit his 6-ft. 4-in. frame in the rear seat).
