'What a steady hand you've got!' This is a comment that I often hear when I am demonstrating how to carve my pots. I never know how to respond to this as I find that what I am doing is very natural and comes easily to me. We shouldn't forget that skill comes through years of practise; a potter like a musician has to put in the hours, in order to maintain his or her level of skill.
