It all started in the cacophony of the 2000 U.S. Grand prix at indianapolis motor speedway. High up, overlooking the pits and main straight, I found the F1 cars downright painful to unprotected ears. Once my earplugs were in place, this got me thinking, and since then I've been accumulating lots of fascinating information about sound and the automoboile.
