Comparison of Lower Triassic Developments in Eastern Sava Folds and Northern Julian Alps (Slovenia)

The Lower Triassic developments are described and the correlation of the Scythian beds in the eastern Sava folds and northern Julian Alps has been performed. In the eastern Sava folds the Orlica anticline and Misnica valley (Kozjansko) were investigated. On the other hand, in the northern Julian Alps about 20 outcrops of the Scythian beds have been examined in detail. The Scythian beds in the Orlica anticline area lie discordantly upon various Carboniferous and Permian rocks. They are composed of five lithostratigraphic units. The similar development of the Scythian beds is exposed in the Misnica valley in the Kozjansko area. In the northern Julian Alps all Spathian members have been established, the Nammalian is not certain, whereas the Griesbachian has been nowhere found.
