Potter, writer and lecturer Eileen Lewenstein (1925-2005), was once described by her husband, the theatrical impresario Oscar, as a woman who 'gave the appearance of fantastic efficiency'. Appearances, in Eileen's case, were not deceptive. That brisk ability to get things done marked much of her career. Born in Streatham, London, she first followed a path in painting (her mother was a keen amateur watercolourist).
