Celestine-Bearing Geodes -- From Wayne and Emery Counties Southeastern Utah: Genesis and Mineralogy

Celestine, an orthorhombic sulfate of strontium, is a comparatively rare mineral in the western United States. However, not only was celestine commercially mined for its strontium content in east-central Utah in the 1940s, more recently attractive crystallized specimens of bladed to tabular celestine and associated minerals have been produced from occurrences of celestine-bearing geodes in several localities within this region.
