Analog or digital? With all the choices available for the designers of robotic equipment, it maybe difficult to decide on the best solution for an application. In the world of DC motor drives, analog electronics increasingly are being replaced with digital drives. Both types have advantages and disadvantages. It's important to understand the differences between them in order to make the best choices. There are four main categories of drives for DC motors and actuators: analog linear, analog PWM, stand-alone digital and networked digital.
