In soil infected with Pyrenochaeta fycopersici (corky root). the yields in tomatoes was improved by using plants grafted on the stock KNVFFr. In comparison with not grafted plants, the production was raised by 50% at the beginning of July and by30% at the end of the harvest. Plants grafted with 2 stems and set at half density gave a similar production to that of the plants grafted with one stem and set at a standard density. Sheet steaming raised the production of (he plants not grafted but didnot improve the yield of the grafted ones In both cases, it slightly reduced the necrosis of the roots, In infected soil, grafted plants with 2 stems and set at half density allow for higher profit margin. Economically and considering expenditure of energy, this technique is superior to sheet steaming.
