摘要

This paper presents the analysis of energy consumption and measures for improving the energy efficiency of a caustic soda plant. The specific electrical consumption (SEC) for the whole plant is 3697 kWh/t of liquid NaOH. Replacement of mercury cells by membrane cells, automation oof plant operation, high pant utilisation factor, improved AC to DC rectification, waste heat result in dramatic reduction in the SEC by almost 1350-1400 kWh/t or 35% of the gross consumption.
