Chlorine demand keeps caustic soda plants running in Latin America

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Economic woes persist in Latin America, exacerbated by the pandemic and measures in place to fight it. The critical situation has impacted all industries, including the caustic soda market. Regional caustic soda demand remains weak, supplied by local and regional product. However, production continues perhaps at more robust levels than required by buying interest because of the need to supply bleach for hygiene at the end-user level and to increase sanitary measures to treat water plants to prevent the spread of the virus.
