摘要

This paper reviews recent developments in rare earth based magnetically hard nanoparticles and nanoflakes prepared by surfactant-assisted ball milling (SABM) technique. The surfactants play an important role in the formation of nanoparticles and nanoflakes. The use of surfactants during ball milling influences not only the size and shape of the particles, but also their texture and magnetic properties. Effect of ball milling parameters, types, amount of surfactants and external magnetic field on the morphology, structure and magnetic properties of permanent magnetic materials are reviewed. This study also reports on the unusual formation mechanism, optimization and the role of surfactants to form textured SmCo5 and Nd2Fe_(14)B flakes.
