COMET : a coal based process for the production of high quality DRI from iron ore fines

CRM has developed the COMET process in order to produce high quality DRI from iron ore fines and crushed coal. A pilot installation (design capacity : 100 kg DRI/h) is operated at CRM since February 1997. The test results demonstrate that the COMET process enables the continuous production of a highly metallized DRI (> 92%) with a low gangue content (< 4%) and a low sulphur content (< 0.05%).
