This issue presents papers from the title conference and session discussions on the following themes: (i) welfare economics and policy analysis of US biofuel policies; (ii) the economics of more flexible approaches to simultaneously meeting competing water demand of irrigated agriculture, cities and the environment; (iii) growth, globalization, and nutrition and health standards in food markets; (iv) long-run implications of biofuels for food security and the environment; (v) drivers of distributional shifts in US agricultural policy; and (vi) the work of Mollie Orshansky in determining food expenditures and measuring poverty.
