Respirology: a thank you note from the outgoing editor.

It is with great pride and relief that I hand over the editorship of Respirology to Professor Eastwood. My term as the Editor-in-Chief of Respirology has been most enjoyable; it was a privilege, a challenge and a journey of fond memories. I am proud that the editorial team has achieved the three ambitious goals we set ourselves in 2009 in our ongoing pursuit of excellence. There can be no denial that the standard of papers accepted in Respirology is now at the highest level ever. Only the best ~25% of submitted papers are published. The journal's international status continues to rise as we strive to promote respiratory research and clinical care on global lung health problems. At the same time, Respirology remains devoted to providing a forum for Asian and Australasian respiratory issues, as evident from our recent series on Asian respiratory health issues.
