Catalytic effects of 5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl-21H,23H-porphyrin and 5,10,15,20-tetraphenyl-porphyrinato cobalt (II) on the reduction of molecular oxygen by ferrocene and its methyl(Me)-substituted derivatives (Me_nFc) were studied by cyclic voltammetry at the polarized water/ 1,2-dichloroethane (DCE) interface, the stopped-flow kinetic measurements in DCE, and DFT calculations [1-4]. Mechanism of the catalytic process was proposed and modelled. Particular attention was paid to the effects of water and acid present in the DCE phase [1,2,4].
