An uncommon cause of diffuse alveolar haemorrhage.

A 32-year-old homeless man from Algeria, who had been living in Switzerland for the past 13 months, presented to the emergency room. He was a smoker (15 pack years) with no previous medical history. Five days prior to admission he developed malaise, fever, headache and myalgia, together with arthralgia of both knees. He also developed nausea, vomiting and watery stool about 3 times a day. Finally, over the last 48 h he noticed shortness of breath with cough and haemoptysis, and came to the hospital.
