摘要

Perfluorocarbon liquids (PFCL) substantially increase the efficacy of retinal detachment (RD) surgery. However, their application entails a number of complications, including PFCL appearance in the subretinal space. This is the most probable complication in surgery for retinal detachments with giant retinal tears(GRT) and with a pronounced proliferative vitreoreti-nopathy (PVR), because in such patients the conditions are most favorable for a PFCL leakage through the tear under the retina during its injection into the vitreous cavity. In the subsequent exchange for gas the PFCL droplets, which are located under retina, are flattened there under a tamponade force of the gas bubble, as a result are badly visualized and can be revealed only after the gas resorption, i.e., in the postoperative follow-up.
