Retinal folds or tractional retinal detachments may occur in the setting of various pediatric vitreor-etinal diseases such as retinopathy of prematurity, familial exudative vitreoretinopathy, persistent fetal vasculature syndrome, congenital retinal fold, or peripheral ocular toxocariasis. Previous reports have demonstrated that lens-sparing vitrectomy is an effective surgical treatment for the management of folds or retinal detachments from the diseases described above.1 More importantly, the preservation of the crystalline lens during visual development may lead to better functional outcomes after lens-sparing vitrectomy surgery.
