DELAYED EXTRUSION OF GANCICLOVIR IMPLANT

The ganciclovir implant has been well established as an effective and well tolerated treatment for cytomeg-alovirus retinitis. Over the years, several associated complications have been reported with this treatment, including the risk of implant extrusion and postim-plantation endophthalmitis. We describe a patient with endophthahnitis and extrusion of the device 5 years after primary implantation.
