This experiment was conducted at the Islamic Azad University, Arak Branch, Iran during 2009-10. The experimental design was split plot factorial based on randomized complete block design with three replications. The treatments including of water deficit stress in three levels: 100, 75 and 50% crop water requirement were assigned to main plot and plant growth regulators including salicylic acid (with and without application) and chlormequat chloride (with and without application) as factorial were randomized to sub-plot. Results showed that with the application of salicylic acid and chlormequat chloride relative water content increased. Also the application of salicylic acid and chlormequat chloride under irrigation equal to 75 and 50% crop water requirements decreased electrolyte leakage. Interaction effects of salicylic acid and chlormequat chloride increased hectoliter weight and grain yield by 12.9 and 13.5% as compared to control, respectively. Our results showed that by irrigation equal to 75% crop water requirements and application of salicylic acid and chlormequat chloride under water deficit stress could obtain acceptable grain yield.
