摘要

Castor oil is a relatively inexpensive plant oil obtained from the seed of Ricinus communis. Approximately 90% of the fatty acid chains in the triglyceride are ricinoleic acid (a hydroxy raono-unsaturated fatty acid). Acrylated castor oil (with 2.56 acrylate groups per triglyceride) was prepared by reacting castor oil with acryloyl chloride in the presence of triethylamine. Photocuring of the acrylated castor oil yields a relatively soft polymer due to the three long aliphatic chains of the triglyceride and consequently the polymer needs stiffening in some fashion to be useful.
