In this work, the flow characteristics of immiscible liquids on the microscale are exploited. Two solutions, which are immiscible were prepared with one being mineral oil and the other a mixture of 4-hydroxybutyl acrylate, acrylic acid, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate and a Type I photoinitiator. The chemical reactor was in the form of a crucifix (one long channel with two shorter channels intersecting the long channel at right angles a third of the way along the long channel) with the microchannels having a width 800 um and a depth of 1.5 mm.
