摘要

Waterborne UV coatings have a number of advantages, including reduced volatility, odour, flammability and toxicity; low viscosity for spray applications; and reduced shrinkage. Further some of the disadvantages of waterborne coatings, such as low gloss, poor water repellency, scratch and chemical resistance, are overcome by introducing UV-initiated crosslinking. In recent years there has been considerable development of polyurethane dispersions (PUDs), with and without acrylate functionality, providing high performance coatings for a range of applications. Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) has been used in a range of applications where high thermal and oxidative stability is desirable, but PDMS suffers from relatively poor mechanical properties and generally poor compatibility with organic polymers.
