JULY 2014 GLYCERINE SHIPMENTS REACH ALL-TIME HIGH

Brazil exported a record 26,633 tonnes of glycerine in July 2014, up 32.1% from the previous record of 20,159 reached in the same month last year, trade data showed. Of the total, 22,192 tonnes, or 83.3%, were crude glycerine while the remaining 4,441 were made up of glycerine of at least 95% purity. The share of crude glycerine in total shipments in July 2014 was the lowest since October 2007. It had been hovering near 100% since late 2007 before it fell below the 90% mark for the first time since October 2007 in March of this year. For the May-July 2014 period, the share declined every month from 86.4% in May to 83.3% in July.
