Conditions for manufacturing quartz refractorieswith a prolonged service life are formulated. The most importanttechnological factor consists in preparation of limitinglyconcentrated suspensions of molten quartz (12 - 13% moisturecontent) with a high degree of polydispersity for slip casting orcentrifugal shaping. A method for shaping articles based onceramic castable mixtures that makes it possible to reduce theporosity of shaped semifinished products to 7 - 12% is suggested.The dynamics of the growth of the production of quartzrefractories at the Pervouralskii Dinas Plant is described. Theoutput has been increased fourfold during the last four years.
