Chilean recycling company Recycla has extended its e-waste processing capacity to 4000 tonnes per year following the opening of new facilities. Locatec in Santiago's Pudahuel district, the plant - which used to process 700 tonnes per annum - was formally opened by the country's President Sebastian Pihera. The plant's waste disassembly, storage, commercialisation and shipping areas have been expanded in a project costing almost US$ 300 000. According to Recyda's projections, the facility will now handle 3800 tonnes per annum of recyclable non-hazardous waste while the remaining 200 tonnes will be comprised of hazardous waste.
