摘要

Train operators and manufacturers have very different approaches to working with interior designers. Natasha Edwards gets the insider's viewpoint from Enthoven Associates' Martijn Vogelzang. TWO RECENT PROJECTS BY Antwerp-based Enthoven Associates Design Consultants in Porto and Brussels reveal the different constraints of working for a transport operator or a manufacturer. Both require working to a tight budget and on a short timescale, but "each project is very different," says Martijn Vogelzang of Enthoven Associates. Designers working with manufacturers are often given complete instructions at the beginning of the project. Says Vogelzang: "With the Porto project we were asked to work on the tender." For the suburban extension of the Porto metro network, Enthoven was brought in by Bombardier - with whom it has collaborated for over 20 years -to assist on its bid with its bidirectional, low-floor Flexity Swift model. For this project, Enthoven worked only indirectly for Metro do Porto.
