What is the ideal flooring material for trains? Stephane Leveque, global transit development manager for Altro Transflor, discusses the trends. Public transport remains a growing market. Reports by the Department for Transport, Office of Rail Regulation (ORR) and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) have found the distance travelled by rail and air had the largest increase of all public transport systems between 1980 and 2005, with an additional 17 billion passenger kilometres, up by 48% for rail and a 300% increase for domestic air travel respectively.
