The R.T.'s role during a disaster.

As a radiography student bouncing from clinical site to clinical site, hearing phrases such as, "That's the nurse's job" or "Oh, the nurse does that" has become the norm. It's no secret to medical staff, students or patients that nurses have a significant role. During a recent project working with American Red Cross Disaster Services representatives, I gained further appreciation for nurses, who also answer the call of duty during disasters. Such a role sparked my curiosity as I considered the responsibility of the radiolog-ic technologist during a disaster and how this role can be created and improved.
