Quebec recovers ashtrays as province butts out

With the province's media fully focused on a new law that effectively bans smoking in most public places, RECYC-QUEBEC reminded restaurant and bar owners not to trash those unneeded ashtrays. Rather, it released a list of 26 recycling depots across the province that would gladly accept ashtrays for recycling though the end of June. Most metal ashtrays will require no special treatment, but not so for glass and porcelain. Glass ashtrays require special treatment before being crushed and sold to glass-blasting firms, and porcelain and ceramic ashtrays will be diverted to local artists.
