Genetic estimates for the seed traits of Toona ciliata

The study was conducted in Himachal Pradesh to estimate the variability for the seed traits of Toona ciliata among the altitudinal provenances and zones. Seed length (Dewinged), seed width, seed germination, seed viability after three and six months of storage differ significantaly for altitudes and zones. Wide range of genetic variabilities were observed for almost ail the seed traits. The seed traits like seed germination, seed viability after three and six month of storage had high estimates of genotypic coefficient of variability, heritability and genetic advance indicating importance of these traits for selection.
