SY300 Potline Operation at Henan HongKong Longquan Aluminium

Henan HongKong Longquan Aluminium Co. Ltd. (LQAL), located in Yichuan County, Henan, China, is owned by the Yichuan Electrical Group (Figure 1). LQAL is a primary aluminum smelter with a capacity of 200,000 tpy, which was designed by Shenyang Aluminium & Magnesium Engineering & Research Institute (SAMI) in 2001. On June 6, 2001, a site was leveled and foundations were constructed. SY300 reduction technology was used at LQAL. They began start-up of the SY300 potline on June 16, 2002, and by November 21, 2002, all 256 pots were in operation. LQAL is the first 300 kA potline in China, and the largest capacity potline in operation thus far in China. Since the beginning, the pots have been stable and highly efficient, achieving all designated technological and economic goals. The company produced 208.7 kt of primary aluminum, which ranks fifth among 135 smelters in China, with an annual sales income of RMB 2.526 billion yuan (after tax). LQAL product is supplied not only in China's market, but also in Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and some other countries in Southeast Asia.
