The New Sapa - Capturing Growth in Aluminum Extrusion

On September 1st, 2013, the heads of three companies came together to finalize the agreement establishing Sapa AS, a 50/50 joint venture, encapsulating the combined extrusion operations of both Norsk Hydro ASA and Orkla ASA's subsidiary Sapa (Figure 1). The new Sapa is headquartered in Oslo, Norway. It has over 100 production units (with more than 60 extrusion presses) in 36 countries with around 25,000 employees, making it the leader in the industry. "Aluminum is the material of the future. To meet our customers' high demands, we need to continue to excel in R&D, deliver with precision, and optimize our global footprint," said Svein Tore Holsether, president and ceo of Sapa AS. "Both entities have demonstrated their ability to improve quality and efficiency. Together we will bring out the best of both companies to create a world class organization and exceed customer expectations."
