REG officially opens new waste oil refinery

Renewable Energy Group, one of the largest producers of biodiesel in the US, has opened its latest refinery at Geismar, Louisiana. The facility has been refitted to produce up to 75 million gallons (284 million litres) of biodiesel per year, using waste oils and fats as feedstocks, as well as additional product steams of renewable naptha and liquiefied petroleum gas. It is the first of REG's ten biorefineries to use the company's proprietary Bio-Synfining technology to produce REG-9000/RHD renewable hydrocarbon diesel that meets or exceeds ASTM D975 fuel standards.
