A couple combine their hobbies to make one fantastic railway garden. When model trains were introduced in Europe, they were so large that most people couldn't fit them inside their homes. Europeans took great delight in creating backyard model railroads that would eventually come to be known as garden railways. Americans got on board much later and concentrated on smaller indoor model trains. Not anymore. Railway gardening has taken off in a big way and railroad garden clubs and societies have sprouted all over the United States, including in Minnesota. Some estimate the number of participating "railroad gardeners" at more than 40,000.
