The Polish government is sticking to its plans to raise autogas tax by a massive 58pc from January next year despite objections from LPG distributors, which fear that tax increases may lead to a decline in consumption. The country's finance ministry has revised its draft excise tax law twice this year, but is keeping to its plan to raise tax on autogas to 1,100 zlotys/t (550/t) from 695 zlotys/t from January 2009.It has rejected repeated calls from the LPG sector to reconsider the planned tax hike.
